A big ME&ME thumbs up to the state of Texas for enacting laws that give residents more options when it comes to protecting themselves from identity theft. Texas joins 34 states in allowing residents to issue freezes on their credit reports and is the first state to allow for a “fast thaw” feature, which gives consumers the opportunity to unfreeze their credit report in a matter of minutes. Also, popular job search site CareerBuilder.com launched a new search function that allows users to control who sees their resume and how many times it was viewed. With the recent data breach from Monster.com, it’s good to see a site take steps to help protect the sensitive information of online job seekers.
