Medicaid option allows more flexible care choices for seniors
As the need for senior home care services increases further than the supply, a number of states are looking to creative ways to arrange for elder care. One of these, Cash and Counseling, is expanding 18 states in 2008 according to this article. The program pays a stipend equal to the amount that would be paid for traditional home care services and allows the client, with the help of licensed counselors, the ability to select and arrange the mix services that are needed. The move is an effort to provide a more personally friendly and cost effective care option than a nursing home.
